Details: Steamboat Local Brian Majeski couldn't wait for winter, so over Labor Day weekend he and Colleen Lyon headed down to the Great Sand Dunes in the San Luis Valley to try out some sand-skiing. Though the art of sand-skiing is best executed on dry sand, Brian still managed to make some sweet telemark turns after a morning of rain. The only problem was that the wet heavy sand led to some spectacular endos as Brian tried to escape from Colleen's dog, Farva.
" It’s a smooth, soft landing on your head - better than digging a volleyball at Howelson Hill," Brian said.
Unfortunately, the early-season high wore off soon after getting home, and Brian and Colleen are already planning another trip to the Sand Dunes in October in search of another fix before the ski area opens.
